The P.E.A.C.E (Professionals Engaged Against Conflict & Endangerment) Fellows Project is a 12-month program that will engage and equip 100 participants via a series of online symposiums to become early warning resources and to improve their peace building skills. Using a criteria which favors young professionals working in the public/civil service of Ghana, a select group of 25 high-performing participants (at least 50% females) will be selected for further in-person education and practical training, which will enable them to work more effectively to deliver critical peace and security services to communities in the northern regions of Ghana.

The select group of 25 entry level professionals within the Ministry of Local Government, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior and other security and border agencies working to build and maintain peaceful communities, will be trained to become right-conscious leaders who use ethical and situational leadership skills, conflict management and negotiations skills to help improve security-civilian relationships and the peace architecture in northern Ghana. They will also receive human security training and training in other 21st century soft skills to further transform them into champions of equitable justice in the districts and municipalities.

Overall, the program aims to enhance the service delivery of Ghana’s critical security agencies in at risk-communities in northern Ghana, and by increasing the capacity of young professionals, community leaders, and young people to resolve and de-escalate community conflict, it is believed that the program will contribute to strengthening public safety and security, building social cohesion and effectively reducing the risk of extremist violence. To increase the program’s scale, reach and impact, the P.E.A.C.E Fellows will be encouraged to adopt an each-one-to-reach-five technique which is focused on cascading newly acquired knowledge.
