Validating Gender Inclusion: Civil Service Finalises Gender Mainstreaming SOP in May 2025 On May 11, 2025, the Office of the Head of Civil Service (OHCS), in collaboration with EPL Ghana, hosted a high-level validation workshop to finalise the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on Gender Mainstreaming across the Civil Service. This SOP, aligned with the 2015 National Gender Policy and the 2024 Affirmative Action Act, provides a structured guide for embedding gender considerations into Civil Service planning, implementation, and reporting frameworks. Opening the session, the Chairperson highlighted the SOP’s transformative potential in operationalising gender policies and enhancing institutional responsiveness. EPL Ghana and OHCS facilitators presented the SOP’s development to participants, referencing relevant policy frameworks and alignment with national goals. The workshop brought together representatives from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to review and refine the draft SOP. Their feedback contributed to a more practical and inclusive implementation flow, leading to the SOP’s official validation. Stakeholders expressed a strong commitment to: Champion the rollout of the SOP. Mentor new Gender Desk Officers. Promote a culture of inclusion and accountability throughout their institutions.
