The Emerging Public Leaders Public Service Fellowship
Join an elite network of young professionals working inside ministries and government agencies to solve national challenges and lead with integrity.
Flagship Programme Structure
Our comprehensive model equips Fellows with hands-on institutional experience, training and mentorship, as well as access to a growing network of public service leaders that facilitates networking, knowledge sharing and continuous professional development
Recruitment & Screening
The Fellowship begins with an inclusive and meritocratic recruitment process free from interference from placement organisations, including the Government. The Fellowship ensures that the marginalised population are adequately supported, with a special focus on women, youth and persons with disabilities (PWDs). The recruitment process is led by EPL Ghana and supported by the alumni community, partner institutions and public sector stakeholders.
Orientation & Onboarding
Fellows participate in an in-person orientation and on-boarding session to understand EPL Ghana’s work, its partnerships, and their roles as “Fellows”. This orientation prepares Fellows for successful Fellowship programme. Placement organisations are engaged to enhance work with Fellows and provide safe and inclusive work environments.
12-Month Work Placement
Fellows are placed within key government ministries, departments, and agencies for a one-year professional work experience
Employability & Leadership Training
Fellows experienced structured learning and skills development to enhance their knowledge and capacity in organisational strengthening and leadership within the public service. The training includes in-person and online modules.
Mentor-Mentee Engagement
Paired 1-on-1 with senior civil servants and executive leaders for continuous career guidance.
Community Immersion Project
A vital component of the Fellowship is the Community Service and Immersion Exercise, designed to strengthen Fellows’ skills in policy formulation and implementation. Through the exercise, Fellows assess and evaluate community needs in relation to existing policies, prepare evidence-based reports, and share their findings with relevant stakeholders to inform action and contribute to sustainable, long-term impact.
Performance Management
Fellows are assessed periodically to measure impact, growth over time and gather feedback to inform continous programme improvement. These assessments are conducted quarterly and biannually through a one one engagement with the felllows and field visits.
Inauguration Ceremony
This annual ceremony celebrates Fellows upon the successful completion of their Fellowship programme and marks their formal induction into the Emerging Public Leaders Alumni Network Ghana (EPLAN Ghana), the official alumni community for EPL Ghana Fellows.
